U.S. Election 2024: Pope Francis Advises U.S. Catholics on the Right Candidate to Vote For

 By Victor Nyatse Ajiduku

Pope Francis has advised American Catholics to base their 2024 presidential vote on the principle of choosing the "lesser evil." During a recent press conference, the Pope condemned both leading candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, for their "anti-life" stances. Trump was criticized for his immigration policies, which the Pope labeled as inhumane, while Harris was called out for her strong pro-abortion stance.

The Pope emphasized that neither candidate aligns with the Church’s teachings on life and human dignity. However, he urged voters to carefully reflect on which of the two would do the least harm, particularly regarding the sanctity of life and the treatment of migrants.

Pope Francis reiterated the Church's firm stance against abortion, calling it "murder," while also condemning the treatment of migrants. He described turning away migrants as "sinful" and urged Catholics to consider these moral issues as they cast their votes.

The Pope’s comments come amid a close race between Harris and Trump, with both candidates sharply divided on key issues, including abortion and immigration. His remarks serve as a reminder of the Church’s long-standing guidance for Catholics to prioritize the defense of life and human dignity when making electoral decisions.
